Content Delivery Coordinator, ITV Content Delivery

I secured the role of Content Delivery Coordinator at ITV Content Delivery, where I’d completed my placement. This happened before I’d even graduated.

Why I chose to study at Leeds Trinity University

I chose Leeds Trinity because it felt so welcoming. Despite its small size it worked to an advantage, I knew I would receive more attention, and that I did. The course was completely appealing in comparison to others I had seen and in turn, I was able to tailor my degree to my interests in video editing.

The most enjoyable parts of the course

There were obstacles due to the COVID-19 pandemic but aside from this I enjoyed being on campus and being around my course mates between modules. I enjoyed digital effects, growing my media production portfolio and my dissertation because I was able to incorporate my passions into my education. I think working as a team was enjoyable because I learnt to work with others and manage one another whilst having fun, despite the challenges.

Valuable placement opportunities

One of my first placements was working for ITV Content Delivery. I enjoy being part of a team and learning to ingest and manage content for internal and external clients. I particularly loved capturing the content for ITV Hub and Britbox and overall gaining experience with such an established broadcaster.

Utilising campus facilities

During the COVID-19 pandemic I realised that as long as I had a laptop most things could be achieved as long as the University provided my Adobe and Microsoft licenses. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase additional technical equipment that made me feel very lucky.

My most enjoyable experience was using the TV studios in both my placements and modules as I felt a form of authority and self-worth when doing things in the studio. I was happy to be around people, at Leeds Trinity, the most important thing has been the people.

Securing a job before graduating

I secured the role of Content Delivery Coordinator at ITV Content Delivery, where I’d completed my placement. This happened before I’d even graduated. Luckily, I had made connections and I nagged both of my leaders for two years to make sure they were advising ITV on my progress as a student. When I saw the position available just before my dissertation was due, I knew it was my calling.

I felt I embodied my personality and love for the role in my CV and I was confident to submit my application. I have been able to work on a variety of projects, mainly timecode capture which includes logging structural elements of TV shows and films for both internal and external clients. I have also essence captured tapes, undertaken editing projects and logged in tapes for digitisation.

My advice to others

If you are passionate and have to go out and make it happen, you will.
