Director in Marketing, Confetti Media Group

It’s a great University, and a great place to live. Visit an open day, get a feel for the campus and visit the city if you haven’t experienced it.

Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity

Leeds Trinity had a really strong reputation for Media and Journalism. That, coupled with the fact that the campus offered both access to a major city and the stunning Yorkshire countryside, made it an easy decision for me.  I remember visiting an open day and feeling that I’d fit in really quickly.

My most memorable student experiences

Visiting Otley Chevin, through the course and with my flat mates, was really memorable. So too was playing football for the second team, and just the whole of my first year in Halls! The social life at the University and in Leeds was brilliant.

Overcoming challenges

In my second year I struggled a little, but my tutor and head of department were really supportive and helped me get back on track.

How my time at Leeds Trinity prepared me for my career

Living away from home taught me a lot about being independent, whilst I also got the chance to meet new people and visit new destinations overseas. My course itself provided me with some great work opportunities in media, which led to my first job after graduating. During one of my short placements, I worked for Lincoln City Football Club. That led to further work placements at AFC Bournemouth, and some paid work at Leeds United. I built up my network of contacts and it paid off, securing a graduate role at Lincoln City.

My career since graduating

My career since graduating has been great and really varied! My degree gave me a broad base of knowledge, experience and skills in media, sport and communication. Since graduating, my roles have covered specialisms in press and PR, marketing, business development, and event management. I’ve worked on and promoted live music and football events, with up to 16,000 spectators at the events. I’ve worked with and featured on the BBC, Sky Sports, ITV and Channel 4, and I’ve managed to work on some great marketing campaigns in education

Being a Marketing Director for Confetti Media Group

The group owns a number of brands, which my team supports. The group includes a high-profile video and post-production agency, a live music and performance venue, a creative industries media centre, and an established educational provider in music, games and media with over 2,000 college and degree level students. It’s a varied and challenging role but really enjoyable.

My career highlights

I’ve been fortunate to work with so many talented individuals and being able to help support them over the past ten years has to be one of my main highlights. Working for Lincoln City Football Club was a highlight in that it was so enjoyable and varied and gave me the fundamentals to further my career.

My advice for prospective students

It’s a great University, and a great place to live. Visit an open day, get a feel for the campus and visit the city if you haven’t experienced it before. If you do end up choosing Leeds Trinity, make the most of the opportunities your course offers you; some of the best countryside in the UK is on your doorstep, make the most and going exploring; enjoy the city life; and make sure you do the Otley run!
