Latest update – 9 December 2021

A government update was issued on 8 December 2021 in relation to England moving to Plan B in response to the Omicron variant of COVID-19. See further detail below and in the updated FAQs for more information about what this currently means for Leeds Trinity.

The government has announced that from 10 December, face coverings will be required by law in most indoor settings and from 13 December, office workers who can work from home should do so. The government has advised that whilst increased restrictions are necessary, higher education providers will remain open with in-person teaching continuing.

The University’s expectation is that everyone will wear a face covering in all indoor settings across the Leeds Trinity campus, unless exempt, to help protect our community from COVID-19 and the new variant. Face coverings are mandatory on the shuttle bus and in the SU Shop, as per the government guidance.

Wider safety mitigations also remain in place on campus to help protect each other and prevent disruption to the learning experience. These include stringent cleaning regimes, use of ventilation, and the provision of Lateral Flow Devices to support students and staff to participate in twice-weekly testing.

In-person teaching continues to be supported and further enhanced by additional engagement activities and opportunities online and through digital teaching materials. As was the case before the pandemic, the majority of assessments will remain online, with the exception of exams, presentations and a number of media, journalism and sports practicals.

Our approach as a University throughout the pandemic has been to put the health, safety and wellbeing of students, staff and the local community first. With this in mind, all measures will remain under continual review and we will adjust and provide updates as necessary.
